Sailing:
I was a superyacht captain in the 80’s and 90’s operating vessels in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Asia-Pacific areas. I have sailed over 130,000 miles and have completed 17 Atlantic crossings.
I have spent my life on the ocean and have been fortunate to have enjoyed a business career centred around sailing and ocean activities.
For the past 25 years I have been very involved in my yacht broking and boating business in Cape Town and was privileged to be one of the founders of the original Robben Island Ferry Company in 1997. We specialise in catamarans, power and sail for leisure, charter and expedition purposes.
My passion lies with empowering the ocean minded youth and as a founder of BlueCape NPC and the current President and co-founder of the Hout Bay Surf Lifesaving Club we are forging ahead with our goal of creating meaningful career paths in the Cape’s ocean economy. Currently sailing a Beneteau First 7.5m in Hout Bay, a Simonis Fast 40 IRC racing yacht ‘’Gryphon’’ in Table Bay and enjoying the slow life on my Drascombe Longboat on Langebaan lagoon
